These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, DGSN pointed out in a press release.
With regard to the control and repression of traffic offenses, security services drew up 47,145 tickets, 7,962 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 39,183 transactional fines were collected, amounting to 8,6 million dirhams, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the withdrawal of 7,962 driving licenses, the impoundment of 5,197 vehicles and the immobilization of 253 others.
Nineteen people were killed and 2,986 injured, 146 of them seriously, in the 2,259 road accidents that occurred in urban areas from November 2 to December 8, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
