Morocco's Fouzi Lekjaa, Mostapha Bousmina among 'Mediterranean Awards 2024' Winners

President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa, High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Ángel Moratinos, President of the Euromed University of Fez Mostapha Bousmina, and Franco-Moroccan singer Françoise Atlan were awarded the prizes at a ceremony attended by HM the King’s advisor, André Azoulay, on the sidelines of the “Euromed University Meetings on the Alliance of Civilizations”, held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI on the theme “Rebuilding trust for a united and plural world”.

FRMF’s President and the High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations were awarded the “Mediterranean 2024” prize in the “Institutions” category.

In turn, Euromed University in Fez President won the same prize in the “Culture” category, while the award for the “Art and Creativity” category went to Franco-Moroccan singer Françoise Atlan.

The 40-strong international jury paid tribute to each of the prizewinners, recounting their outstanding career paths and welcoming their exceptional contributions, each in their own field, to the cause of peace, coexistence and harmony between peoples on both shores of the Mediterranean and beyond.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary General of the United States of the World Michele Capasso, the organization behind the award, said that “nothing gives a better insight into the spirit of our times, and contributes to the development of our societies, than meeting the personalities who have committed to the model of equity, peaceful coexistence, creativity and the production of new wealth all around the Mediterranean and worldwide.”

Capasso paid tribute to the four awardees, who “have in common their ability to be in symbiosis with the very soul of our times”.

Established in 1995 by United States of the World, the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Mediterranean Academy, the Mediterranean Awards are awarded annually to figures from the political, religious, cultural and artistic realms who have contributed, through their actions, to reducing tensions and initiating a process of valuing cultural differences and shared values in the Greater Mediterranean area and worldwide.

The prestigious “Mediterranean Awards 2024” were awarded on Friday in Fez to four personalities from around the Mediterranean for their outstanding contribution to production and creativity in various fields linked to peace, development and innovation.
