This visit, which is part of bilateral meetings between the Director General of DGSN-DGST and his counterparts in the Federal Police and internal security in Belgium, seeks to bolster joint cooperation mechanisms across all areas of security and intelligence, the DGSN-DSGT Hub said in a press release.

It also comes shortly after the recent trip to Morocco on November 25 by Francisca Bostyn, Administrator General of Belgian State Security, the same source noted.

During his visit, Hammouchi held working sessions and bilateral talks with the General Commissioner of the Belgian Federal Police, Eric Snoek, on a range of security issues of common interest. These talks provided an opportunity to examine various threats and emerging security risks, as well as ways to combat these challenges within the framework of a shared and collective vision.

Talks also focused on examining the security challenges and threats posed by terrorist groups and organized crime networks across various regions, notably the Sahel and the Sahara, the Middle East and Europe.

In recognition of the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the security field, DGSN-DGST Director General and the Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police signed a joint action plan, which includes a bilateral action program for 2025-2026, aimed at consolidating cooperation in combating organized crime and terrorism, coordinating efforts to process border transit data, pursuing internationally wanted individuals, as well as cooperating in the fight against money laundering and terrorist threats targeting sporting events.

According to the press release, this action plan establishes the mechanisms for bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts, as well as the agreed-upon channels to facilitate the exchange of information and joint visits, for greater effectiveness and efficiency of the joint security action.

This visit underscores the robust bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Belgium across various security domains, notably the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, the press release notes, adding that it also takes place within a context of strengthening and expanding security partnerships between Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts.

The visit confirms, anew, Morocco’s distinguished status and effective role in international security cooperation, and also reflects the credibility Moroccan security services enjoy among their European partners, as a key player in joint efforts to preserve international peace and security, the press release concludes.

Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, on Thursday paid a working visit to Belgium, at the head of an important security delegation made up of directors and executives from the central departments of the DGSN-DGST Hub.
