Speaking at the opening of the peer-to-peer learning event on “Promoting Digital Investments in Africa,” initiated by the G20 Compact with Africa, Seghrouchni highlighted Morocco’s initiatives aimed at reducing the digital divide and promoting access to information and communication technologies.
“Following the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is working to integrate digital culture across all segments of society and develop the necessary infrastructures to support the rapid evolution of the digital sector,” she said.
Digital inclusion is a key lever for improving productivity, public service quality, and governance, while fostering innovation and job creation, she emphasized, noting that “Morocco is ready to share its experience and play a unifying role in mobilizing the resources needed for the emergence of a digital Africa.”
For his part, German Ambassador to Morocco Robert Dölger praised Morocco’s strategic role as an economic and digital hub linking Africa and Europe, specifying that “Morocco’s selection to host this event highlights its importance as a regional model of digital transformation and African cooperation.”
He also reminded that the Compact with Africa Initiative, launched by the G20, aims to strengthen private investment in Africa and support the structural reforms of participating countries.
In the same vein, the South African Ambassador to Morocco, Ebrahim Edries, praised Morocco’s essential role in the field of renewable energy, as well as in the automotive and aerospace sectors.
The Kingdom, according to him could play a decisive role in Africa’s sustainable future by strengthening private investments in crucial sectors such as energy, agriculture, health, and education.
Participating via videoconference, Brazilian Ambassador to Morocco Alexandre Guido Lopes Parola, stated that this initiative is designed to mobilize long term investments and promote economic integration on the continent.
He continued by saying that digital inclusion is essential to reduce inequalities and strengthen the competitiveness of African economies.
In turn, Ed Brown, Senior Director for Research and Policy at the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), emphasized the key role of digitization in Africa’s development.
“Digital investments are essential to create jobs, improve productivity, and transform African economies,” he said, calling for strengthening public-private partnerships to maximize these opportunities.
Held in Rabat from December 2 to 4, this event brings together policymakers, experts, and international partners to exchange best practices and define concrete actions for the digital transformation of the continent.
