This forum would enable a better understanding of the history, values, civilization and assets of the Forum of the Chairpersons of the Legislative Assemblies of Central America, Caribbean and Mexico (FOPREL), stressed Ould Errachid at the opening of the 30th extraordinary session of FOPREL, held at the Moroccan parliament’s headquarters.

It would also provide an opportunity for the peoples of member countries to discover “the Kingdom of Morocco’s ancestral history, as well as its development achievements.”

The Speaker of the House of Councillors called on the Moroccan Parliament and FOPREL, which enjoy distinguished relations based on mutual respect, to strengthen these ties for “the benefit of our countries and our peoples.”

He also noted that the decision to grant Morocco “advanced partner” status within FOPREL paves the way for the Moroccan parliament to fully join the Forum. In his view, strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with this parliamentary grouping reflects the importance attached by the Kingdom to solidarity initiatives and integration and co-development projects, particularly within the framework of South-South cooperation.

Speaker of Morocco's House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, called on Wednesday in Rabat for creating a forum for parliamentary dialogue between Morocco, Central America and the Caribbean, whose sessions would alternate between the parties.
