The platform, created as part of the implementation of the African Transitional Justice Policy, adopted by the AU Heads of State Summit in 2019, is managed by an 8-member steering committee from different regions of africa.
In a statement to MAP, Jbabdi said that the platform is a network bringing together women involved in the transitional justice mechanism concerning the exchange of experiences, visions, actions and initiatives aimed at strengthening transitional justice in Africa.
The platform also aims to promote women’s participation in decision-making at all stages of transitional justice and post-conflict reconstruction, she said, adding that this is a strategic need for building lasting peace on the continent.
It also involves capacity-building in gender and transitional justice, and support for justice processes to ensure that the prejudices suffered by women are taken into account, she said.
